What Color Wire Do I Connect The Remote Wire To?

XIX National Congress on Astronomy - Madrid 2010 (II)

After reporting the first afternoon of the conference, I want to reflect my experience here on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19. I can only offer a very small sample of those who were the presentations, since I could not attend from the beginning, and because the program consisted of three parallel sessions, so you had to choose a speech of three to attend.

appearance in the meeting room of dark sky presentations

Instead of entering a session to a close, I preferred to wait in the hallway and you will join the pause for coffee to enter the session with renewed vigor. I was in the papers on light pollution. Were covered on one hand the efficiency of lighting, as well as measuring the sky background with moving equipment similar smuy basically a meter based on SQM (Sky Qualitymeter) installed on the roof of a car by steps to the zenith.

As soon going to eat a fellow of the Group M-1 accompanied by other friends, we could not stay at the conference Miquel Serra. In the restaurant with us investigator David Martinez Delgado, with whom we could discuss many aspects of their work and interaction with the amateurs. And Pepe Ripero with us, which however could not attend the Congress.

During the evening I attended the talks devoted to the minor planets. Montse Campas told us the results of Observadores_cometas group activity, both in number of observations in outstanding results (Dr. Mark Kidger was to participate but could not be present).

Ramón Naves, in his paper "work and stories with asteroids spoke of their experiences observing asteroids, with special emphasis on photometric observations, with which it has obtained a large amount glow curves of asteroids which may determine their forms.

July spoke Castilian photometry of comets and the application of the method in your program multiapertura Seals II, explaining the stages through which the methodology has been in subsequent versions.

At 18h I had to give my speech, which I missed , to my regret, the talk of Ruben, Juan Luis and Rafael Benavides on its program SEDA-WDS dedicated to the observation of double "forgotten" in the catalog of Washington.

For those that could not hear, you have an excerpt in the previous entry in this blog. Taking twenty minutes to expose, fortunately I was able to cover all its contents. While everything seemed geek, speaking at a makeshift observatory house window, in a terribly polluted city, as I explained results, with numerous observations of brightness of variable stars, successful monitoring variables and measures of quasars eruptive and observations of transits of exoplanets, all earned the credibility that I consider essential.

Here I am, giving my presentation "An Optimized Urban Observatory"

After the presentation turned to be a listener and had a great time at the conference Lopesino Jordi, who spoke of the history of National Astronomy Day, State Capitol today. Jordan took a lot of work gathering all the documentation, testimony and stories that have enriched a hugely entertaining talk, which we saw yesterday and today's amateur astronomy in Spain through what their official meetings. The patience of the speaker was also commended at the continuing failure of the classroom projector Ramón y Cajal. I get the impression that the reduction of funds at the university is putting into question the maintenance of educational material would not be the university authorities are more interested in the practice bottle Friday night, to make it an astronomy and other sciences?

At the end of the session we went for some beers and dinner Darriba Adolfo, the doubles player (Rubén Masa, Juan Luis Gonzalez and Rafael Benavides) and me. Nebraska In the Gran Via, after dinner, I made a particular session in which I told my paper, and who could not attend this during the afternoon.

Making the presentation of my paper on "VIP meeting" to my friends doubles player.

On Sunday September 19 was the last day. This workshop took place. The conference followed Blanca Troughton, on the International Year of Astronomy 2009, and Angel Gomez, on the journal Astronomy in its 25 year history.

One thing I did was take the opportunity to buy one of the last copies of "History of Amateur Astromomía in Spain left in the Sirius Team booth, then kindly gave me the author Josep Maria Oliver.

Cover of "History of Amateur Astronomy in Spain" , I could buy at the booth of Team Sirius (last remaining) and I signed the author Josep Maria Oliver.

Awards astrophotography. Fernando Cabrerizo won an award for his photo of the ISS transit suede solar disk.

Performance of" Galileo "by Bertold Brecht to close the congress. Excellent performance of MKS theater group.

The conference closed with the awards astrophotography contest and the representation of play "Galileo" by Bertolt Bercht. The main character of the work was of great interest to us, so that the representation was an excellent idea.

After the theater was officially closed the XIX National Congress on Astronomy. The next will take place in Gandia, organized by the Astronomical Association of Safor; the framework of this twentieth edition promises to be quite attractive. On balance I do is quite favorable, the days are always a good time for fans at the fact of being able to rediscover each other and tell the war stories. As the organization is to put a hot and cold and sand, and if criticized some improvisation and disorganization, it must be said that the work in the course of the presentations was remarkable, keeping perfect time wing of each talk, which is not really easy.

Friends with whom I shared this conference, from left to right: Fran Sevilla, M31 Astronomical Assoc Bilbao and Astr Soc. Syrma of Valladolid, Veronica Casanova of the Aranzadi Science Soc blogger and science and astronomy (astronomy and physics blog ) and Adolfo Darriba M-1 group and the Centro Astronómico de Ávila.
